Description

The artisans behind the making of this handicraft feel the weight of dreams lurking over their shoulders, as modern economies are barely catered to help their development.

Achieving a rare mastery over their art, the artisans of Kondapalli are maestros in the field of handiwork. With colours as pristine as the vibrant Indian life around them, the toys are carefully handcrafted, elevating the status of an artisan to an artist of the highest order.

The series contains 6 Kondapalli toys, each including a woman doing her daily cooking. Clad in a vibrant saree, she squats down on the stool to prepare the batter for the Dosa — a south Indian staple delicacy.

The next scene shifts to the woman rolling the pin over Chapati dough, making Chapati’s round like the moon. Each frame explores Indian cuisine, as the woman is seen preparing dishes and washing utensils.

Over time, the glorious art of Kondapalli shall remain eternal, as the artisans hold onto their hopes of a better future.
